Meeting "Command Line 101"

( classroom)

Location: fedora-classroom@irc.libera.chat

  • Start: Thu, August 10, 2017 - 13:00 UTC
  • End: Thu, August 10, 2017 - 14:30 UTC

3rd in the Fedora Classroom series.

=== Short Intro === Over the years, the command line has developed a reputation for being rather hard core, only apt for advanced users of Linux. This is entirely false. While GUI tools have their benefits, they are not well suited for all types of tasks. The command line provides a set of powerful tools and operators that permits one to carry out a myriad of tasks easily, efficiently, usually without moving one's fingers off the home row.

In this hands-on session, following a quick theoretical introduction, we shall go over a set of useful command line tools, and then look at some advanced topics such as IO redirection to give users a taste of how easy and powerful the command line is.

=== Joining the session ===

The session will be hosted on IRC in #fedora-classroom on Freenode. Since it is a hands-on session, it will be useful to have a Linux installation to follow it properly. No prior knowledge of the command line is required."

Meeting organized by skamath.
